Beautiful
Flathead Lake offers boundless recreational options, from fishing
to boating to bird-watching. At nearly 30 miles long and
seven miles wide, Flathead Lake is the largest freshwater lake
in the West. You are almost guaranteed a view of an
eagle or osprey nabbing fish from its pristine water.

An
osprey, also known as a fish hawk, is on the lookout for fish
from the treetops surrounding your home. |
|
A
bald eagle takes a lunch break on your dock. |
|
A juvenile
eagle dives toward migrating waterfowl near your dock. |
|
The bird-watching
prospects from your rented home vary from the heart-stopping sight
of a heron to the heart-warming sight of hummingbirds. |
|
If you tire
of bird watching from your rental home, the surrounding locale
features a number of waterfowl production areas that you may want
to visit, including the Flathead and Blasdel waterfowl production
areas between Somers and Bigfork and the Swan River Refuge on
the south shore of Swan Lake. In June, check out the
Bigfork Bird Festival featuring field trips and lectures. |
